Parish Pastoral Council Nominations
Our parish will soon hold nominations for new members of the Parish Pastoral Council during all weekend Masses on December 06 and 07 or by submitting the form below. We invite all parishioners to prayerfully consider nominating themselves or other members of our faith community who are dedicated to serving the mission of the Church.
Purpose of the Parish Pastoral Council
According to Canon Law (Canon 536 §1), the Parish Pastoral Council is a consultative body that assists the pastor in promoting the pastoral mission of the Church within the parish.
The Council works together with the pastor to:
Reflect prayerfully on the pastoral needs and mission of the parish.
Foster unity and collaboration among parishioners, ministries, and organizations.
Discern priorities, develop plans, and support initiatives that promote evangelization, spiritual growth, and community life.
Strengthen the parish’s witness to the Gospel of Christ in our local community.
Eligibility (According to Canon Law and Parish Norms)
Those eligible for nomination must:
Be a baptized and confirmed Catholic in good standing with the Church (cf. Canon 512 §1).
Be a registered and active member of the parish.
Participate regularly in the sacramental and liturgical life of the Church.
Be committed to prayer, collaboration, and service for the good of the parish.
Be willing to serve for the full term and attend all scheduled meetings.
Clergy and parish staff members ordinarily are not eligible to serve as voting members of the Council.
Responsibilities of Council Members
Members of the Parish Pastoral Council:
Serve as representatives of the parish community, listening to the needs, hopes, and concerns of parishioners.
Work in a spirit of faith and discernment to advise the pastor in planning and evaluating parish life and mission.
Promote communication and cooperation among parish groups and ministries.
Participate actively in meetings, ongoing formation, and parish events.
Parish nomination will be December 6th and 7th during the Masses or by submitting the form below.
Parishioners are invited to propose names for the council membership. This (hopefully ample) list of the nominees are gathered for an evening of reflection, the learning about the role of a Parish council, those gathered than elect the members of the council.
Please take time to pray and reflect on who might serve our parish faithfully and effectively in this important ministry. Nomination ballots will be available during all Masses on December 06 and 07 and below until midnight.
Let us ask the Holy Spirit to inspire and guide our parish as we discern new leaders for our Pastoral Council.
